Mandalay

Our final stop in Myanmar was Mandalay, the last royal capital of Burma. The city is surrounded by many royal townships. It is the economical centre of the country and you can find many skilled carpenter and stonemasons. Together with a very nice couple from Norway (Hanne & Vidar) we discovered the environment. As means of transportation we relied on cars, boats and horse carriages.

A taxi doesn't always need 4 wheels, sometimes 2 wheels, 8 hooves and a good will are enough.

Like a big old cake.

Stairway to heaven.

Photoshooting in the sun :)

The higher you climb, the nearer you can approach god (if you're a believer)

It takes weeks or months to create those wooden masterpieces.

The colour used to dye the skin comes from the bark of a tree. It is used as beautification of the skin as well as sun protection.

The 45 Buddhas of Sagaing Hill in the U Min Thonze Pagoda.

Riding horse cars like Gypsys through the nature.

Where there is love, there is peace.

There is always a way through the banana plantation.

The U Bein Bridge in Amarapura with its 1,2 km is considered as the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world.

Especially during sunset, the scenery is breath-taking.
